By using MacroBasics (the "Service"), including the website at macrobasics.app and the iOS app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Using MacroBasics
MacroBasics is a personal nutrition and macro tracking tool. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
You agree not to:
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service or its APIs
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of others
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data
2. Your Data
You own your data. MacroBasics does not claim ownership over your food logs, recipes, or any other content you create. You can export your data at any time from within the app. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.
3. AI Features and Nutritional Information
MacroBasics uses AI (Anthropic Claude and OpenAI Whisper) to estimate nutritional content from text and voice descriptions. These estimates are generated automatically and may not be accurate.
The nutritional information provided by MacroBasics is not medical advice. It is provided for general informational purposes only. Do not rely on it to manage a medical condition, eating disorder, or any health-related treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical or dietary guidance.
4. Service Availability
We aim to keep MacroBasics running reliably, but we make no guarantee of uptime, availability, or uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice where possible.
5. Account Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. To request deletion of your account and data, email privacy@macrobasics.app. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or that nutritional data will be accurate.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MacroBasics and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including inaccurate nutritional information. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, for a free service, is zero).
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of British Columbia, Canada.
